Themis Bioscience achieves major milestones: Additional € 1 Mio. public funds granted --‐ new lab and office space successfully established --‐ corporate website --‐ www.themisbio.com --‐ launched

(Vienna, 6. July 2010) Themis Bioscience GmbH, an Austrian start--‐up biotechnology company developing vaccines against tropical infectious diseases, announces today the achievement of major milestones for the development and growth of the company. The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), the national funding institution for applied industrial research in Austria, today confirmed to support Themis Bioscience with an additional public fund of € 1 million over the next three years. Themis Bioscience will use these funds to drive its vaccine projects – especially the companies lead vaccine candidate against Dengue fever -forward at full speed. After carefully reviewing the company’s business concept, FFG is now together with the austria wirtschaftsservice (aws) and the academic business incubator INiTS, the third Austrian public funding organization supporting the company and believing in its innovation potential. “We are very happy to have FFG as a supporter of our company on board. This does not only validate our business concept, but also shows that there are excellent public funding instruments for young pioneering Biotech companies in Austria”, comments Themis CEO, Dr. Erich Tauber. So far, the company has raised € 2.1 million public money since its foundation in September 2009. Furthermore the company today moved in its own lab and office area in the Vienna “BOKU Biotech Center Muthgasse”. This state of the art facility, including laboratories under Biosafety level 2, will allow continuous growth and progress for Themis Bioscience over the next years. “The Biotech Center Muthgasse is an internationally recognised biotechnology centre for research and development and offers an excellent infrastructure for a young biotech company”, adds Dr. Erich Tauber.
